| In early 2009, it was declared that michael jackson would be making a return to the stage for the original time in years, as he had lined up a 50 night residency at london's o2 arena. Unluckily, the excitement surrounding these events was to be cut short, as just months later, on june 25th to be exact, news disseminate that he passed away at his la mansion. Internet search engine, google, shut down as it interpreted the absolute volume of searches for "michael jackson" as an automated attack; and, within a couple of hours of the news breaking, the king of pop was back on top of the charts thanks to radio airplay and downloads. Much speculation has arisen over the star's physical health for such a mammoth tour, and whether this was to blame for the cardiac arrest, altho rumors are rife of murder, overdose and still being alive. Only time will tell. Michael jackson's private funeral service was kept on july 7th 2009 at forest lawn memorial park's hall of liberty, followed by a populace memorial at la's staples center, where the 'artist of the decade (1980's)' had been rehearsing, which was watched by over 30 million individuals. A musical artisan alone, notwithstanding good they were, would not be capable to cause such a wave of emotion. It was what jackson did to make the earth a more desirable place generally, suchlike launching his 'heal the earth foundation' and supporting innumerable other charities, that was the ground of this nearly unexampled populace response. Stevie wonder, lionel richie, mariah carey, jennifer hudson, usher and jermaine jackson sang tributes, berry gordy and smokey robinson gave eulogies, while reverend al sharpton obtained a standing ovation when he told jackson's children, "there wasn't not one thing unusual in regards to your daddy. It was unusual what your daddy had to cope with". Another stand out moment was paris jackson, michael's 11 year old daughter, telling those in attendance that "ever since I was born, daddy has been the most skillful father you could ever imagine". Marlon jackson spoke of his brother's problems, stating, "we will never, never, perceive what he tolerated. Not being capable to walk all over the street without a crowd assembled around, being judged, being ridiculed. How much ache may one take? Perhaps now, michael, they’ll leave you alone". All in all, it was a fitting way to do not forget such a nifty man, and the services to commemorate him are going to be long remembered. . |
