CREATE THE PERFECT INVITATION

If you’re planning a party, you need to make sure your guests get the memo – as well as all of the other information about the party they might need to know. To ensure that everyone shows up on the right date and time and with the right party supplies, you’ll need to send out party invitations. If you want to make the most out of your invitations, follow this handy check-list.

1. Choose an appropriate design for your invitation. Invitations can come in all sorts of styles, colors and themes. Depending on what type of party you are having – a holiday party, birthday party or bridal shower – you’ll want to choose a design that reflects that atmosphere you are going for and the theme of the event.

2. Include the essential information. Every invitation should include the name of the host, who the party is for, the time of the event, the location of the event and the RSVP information.

3. Make use of the back side of your invitations. If you’ve got a lot of information to share, don’t try to squish it all on the front of your invitation. Spreading out information and creating more “white space” will create a nicer presentation. You can also use the back side for secondary information such as directions, dress codes and contact information.

4. Send them early – but not too early. Don’t wait until the last minute to send out your invitations or send them too far in advance. For birthday parties, holiday parties and other small celebrations, six weeks in advance is usually plenty of time to notify your guests. For larger events like corporate holiday parties or charity balls consider sending out invitations eight to ten weeks before your event.

5. Coordinate with your other stationery. To present an organized front to your guests, you’ll want to ensure that all aspects of your stationery complement one another. Add matching envelopes, personalize your return address labels or coordinate your thank you cards with your invitation for a bigger impact.

By keeping in mind these tips when creating invitations you’ll be able to create thematic and informative invitations for every occasion. But, the best advice of all is to make sure you review your invitations before sending them out. Ask yourself, is everything I would want to know on here? If you answered yes, then you’re ready to go!
