| There is a lot of creativity and imagination used in what is
the bionics architecture design. Taken from the shapes and
lines of natural forms, the final construction of the
bionics movement designs are very different from the usual
modern day buildings. Bionics by itself is an application of engineering design. It combines nature with technology and electronics. The creations result in structures that seem to defy gravity and physics. And they are smooth and have curves, as opposed to the traditional rectangular designs and layouts of buildings. In the early twenty-first century, this movement matured. Copying biological layouts, and using fractal mathematics, the structures had sleek curves instead of sharp edges. Green building codes were the topping of these ingenious designs, also using aesthetics and economics to seal their popularity. There are a few famous bionic structures around the world, such as the Anti-Smog Building. This unique structure in Paris, France was erected atop a railroad track. Its design is functional, as it captures smog, such as a vacuum would suck in dirt. Within it is a natural lagoon, and on the roof top is a view of the city of Paris. There is also the Ascent at Roebling Bridge. This can be found in Cincinnati, Ohio. The natural colors that were chosen for this building reflect the sky and the earth, and it has a crescent roof, which slopes. Another example is the Ark of the World, located within the rainforest of Costa Rica. A water garden, which is columnar in shape, actually cools the building, whose design in itself resembles flowers. There are a few others in the world at this time, and they make the area look futuristic indeed. Since the bionic movement is in tune with nature, it is growing in popularity and more architects want to make their mark in this field. They will continue to use green energy combined with technology which is what is the bionics architecture. |
