Watercolor materials and equipment all collected together can help you be ready when inspiration strikes and time allows you to paint. The supplies that must be replenished are one category. Another is things you will use for painting after painting. Paper and pigments for mixing paints are supplies that must be replaced. Your easel and brushes can be reused.

Selecting the proper easel is a good starting point. Some are designed to be light and portable. Others are heavier and offer greater stability. You can find easels manufactured from many different types of wood or metal. Some artists store extra supplies on the lip of their easel, others do not.

It is a matter of preference how an artist chooses to mix colors. Many use a palette. Some cut pigment with paint cutters. It may be helpful to have a supply of cups to rinse brushes and to have clean water available. A box to store cleaned and dry brushes will protect them for the next time you decide to paint.

Of course, every artist uses pigment to mix paints and it may be desirable to have a ready supply. They come in tubes or on pans. The tube variety is the most popular choice. They allow the painter to mix colors more rapidly. Each is water soluble. A pencil is also handy at times.

Professional artists recommend getting the best quality brushes you can afford as opposed to buying a lot of lesser quality. What determines quality in a paintbrush is type of bristle. Red sable is preferred. Imitation sable, camel hair or squirrel are also available. These brushes taper to a fine point. You may also need a few square end brushes as well.

Having paper and canvas available when you are inspired to create watercolors is useful. Collecting your watercolor materials and equipment together requires a little effort, but will reward you when you are ready to paint and your kit is ready to go.
