Piano Dealer: Spotting a Good One

When looking for a piano dealer, there are many different things to consider. These factors are all dependent on the need and preference of the prospective buyer. There are actually two kinds of sellers out there and these are the professional ones and the private sellers. Those who sell professionally are those who sell them for a living. These kinds of people usually have a reputation to uphold and they would like to keep untarnished. That is, of course, unless they really deal with buyers in a deceptive fashion. Those who are called private sellers are owners of musical instruments who want to pass on their pianos for whatever purpose they have. They usually sell privately and do not pass through a piano dealer in doing so. The quality of their piece depends on how they value what they are selling.

Signs

One of the signs of a good person to deal with is usually in his or her manner of addressing the instrument that is to be sold. Despite being an object, a person who values the things that he deals with treats these with respect and dignity. You seldom see a good piano dealer slam the lid or rough up the furniture, even just to prove a point to the buyer. People whom one should deal with should be careful of the merchandise even when there is no customer looking or observing.

Another thing to look for is the condition of the instrument that is for sale. Brand new items come with a warranty from the manufacturer, while second hand ones are generally reconditioned by the seller before putting it up for sale. A concerned seller usually tunes it and cleans it up before even presenting it to the general public.

Dealerships usually have finance options for buyers as well as a trade up policy for an old playing piece or a new one that the owners want to exchange for a more expensive or higher quality one. Private sellers usually sell the item as is, where is. Recognizing a well-conditioned instrument may be difficult for those who are not familiar with these kinds of objects. Those who know how to play can benefit from playing several notes on it to check on its condition. Keys that do not play may be easy to fix while those that are terribly out of tune may need some under the hood fixing. It is a good idea to check out the ins and outs of the instrument before buying it.

A piano dealer that is trustworthy will not be pushy in terms of wanting the prospective buyer to buy immediately. It is to be expected that there is some form of strategy when selling things but since these cost a lot more than ordinary household items, it is expected that the buyer will need to think about the decision lengthily. A pushy seller can be annoying and may seem too eager to make a sell instead of wanting to actually assist the person get a good deal on the piano.
