Music festivals are back in vogue, if you will. They have existed since the early days of events like Woodstock back in the 60s, but only recently have they caught on with modern music lovers. Bonnaroo, Coachella, Sasquatch, the list of music festivals longer today than it has ever been before. Psychopathic Records’ Gathering of the Juggalos horror rap festival is enjoying this renewed energy as well.

Known predominantly as horror rap group Insane Clown Posse’s own, custom tailored festival, the Gathering of the Juggalos annual event also plays host to a number of other Psychopathic Records horror rap artists. Twiztid, Boondox, Blaze, and ABK were just a few of the Psychopathic Records artists on hand at this year’s Gathering of the Juggalos festival.

But enough about the music, what else is there to do at the Gathering of the Juggalos horror rap music festival?

Every year is different, which is one of the festival’s best parts. Last year’s Gathering of the Juggalos featured helicopter rides, Juggalette oil wrestling, Juggalette fashion shows, seminars with Psychopathic Records artists (including festival headliner Insane Clown Posse), autograph signing, and of course all of the ruthless horror rap music you could ever imagine.

Happening once a year, the Gathering of the Juggalos is a mecca for fans of Insane Clown Posse and other Pyschopathic Records horror rap artists. Four days of mayhem, it’s an event most Juggalos anticipate for the entire year leading up to it.

How did it begin?

Psychopathic Records’ Gathering of the Juggalos was created in 2000 with the intention of providing an opportunity for all Juggalos and fans of horror rap to come together. The concept had been discussed between Insane Clown Posse members Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope for many years, and finally came to fruition with the help of their record label, Psychopathic Records.

Approximately 7,000 Juggalos were in attendance at this first Horror Rap festival. When the weekend was winding down, members of ICP asked Juggalos to join them on stage, a request which nearly 300 of them obliged to. The venue quickly shut down the concert, and the stage was set for an annual Juggalo event full of chaos.

Since the seminal event, the Gathering of the Juggalos has changed venues a handful of times, choosing in more recent years to remain outside rather than indoors.

The decision of ICP members Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope, moving the festival outdoors has given Juggalos the opportunity to enjoy the outdoor surroundings (swimming, helicopter rides, forests), and hop from stage to stage to see as many Psychopathic Records horror rap artists as they want, because now more than one set can be performed at once.

Not a fan of horror rap or any Psychopathic Records artists? Not to worry. The Gathering of the Juggalos horror rap music fest has featured more mainstream artists like Bobby Brown to attract a wider audience to the event.
