Satellite on PC How To Hooke Up Your TV to Your Internet Satellite

Hooking up your satellite on PC to your HD television set is straight forward and uncomplicated as long as you prepare the setup ahead of time. Make sure that you have all the required items, and have gone over the install in your head a couple times. This will make things go a lot smoother.

So, first things first. In order to hook up your satellite on pc to your television, you will need one of the following connectors, depending on what ports your PC's soundcard has:

1. DVI Cable - a Digital Visual Interface cable transmits in only digital format, thus the quality of the signal will be better than that of an S-Video or VGA cable. To use a DVI cable, your computer must have a DVI output jack, (usually on the soundcard or the video card) and your television must be HDTV compatible at least.

2. DVI to HDMI Cable - If your HDTV doesn't have a DVI input, but an HDMI input, then you can use a DVI to HDMI converter cable which will connect the two otherwise incompatible cables together. Pretty much all HDTV sets are made with an HDMI cable input by default. Not all of them have DVI as of yet though.

3. VGA Cable - If you have an HDTV, but no DVI output on your PC, then the best option for you is to use the VGA cable. This will connect to both the PC and the HDTV seamlessly, and the quality is better than S-Video or AV jacks. If you have just a regular TV, then you cannot use a VGA, HDMI, or DVI cable.

4. S-Video Cable - this is the most common way people currently hook up to their TV from their PC. This is because S-Video has been around longer than the other, newer plugs. You need to make sure that both your TV and PC have S-Video input and output respectively. Also, note that S-Video cables come in 4-pin and 7-pin. Make sure that you know which one you require. The easiest way to tell, if you're not sure, is to count the pinholes on the female plug port.

5. Scan Converter Box - an alternate option is to use a scan converter box that takes the VGA signal, and converts it into a compatible S-Video signal so that you can plug it into your TV. This should be used as a last resort before trying the other methods.

Once you have figured out the correct plugs and ports that you will use, the satellite on PC to TV setup is very simple. All you have to do is start the satellite internet TV software on your PC, and then connect the PC to the TV via whatever connection method used. Then, if your TV is not showing the signal, then look for an "input" button on your remote control. You need to activate the input that the satellite internet TV signal is coming through on. If you use HDMI or DVI, the input will likely automatically switch.
