There are a number of things that you can do to help you put your relationship to a higher gear by encouraging your boyfriend to commit.

Think about yourself

In many cases, we tend to push everything in our lives to the background when we are interested in getting married. Unfortunately, always focusing on marriage, and planning your entire life around it, will do more harm than good. Either the man will take comfort in the fact that you will go nowhere, or he will feel threatened. In either case, you will end up the loser as these things will hardly encourage a man to commit.

Think about it, how often do you let him know how much you miss being close to him? While this is not necessarily bad, the problem is that it makes him take comfort from the fact that you will not leave him. So why should he try to make any more effort? Men love to chase things by nature, and when he realizes that you are entirely and exclusively available to him, he won't be inclined to make any further commitment.

So, instead of thinking about the guy all the time, focus on your own life. Make your own plans where he does not feature in any way. Rather than being available to him all the time, you may spend some time with your girlfriends. This will make the man realize that there are other options in your life as well. In order to win you, he will commit sooner rather than later.

Take good control of your future

As much as you would like to spend the rest of your life with your boyfriend, you should realize that you are still an individual with her own future. Plan some of the things you intend to do later on even when he is not available. Let him be aware of your plans, and you should not be apologetic about it. When a man who truly loves you notices that your life goes on without him, he will be more inclined to make a commitment and push your relationship to the next level.

In addition to these, there are a number of specific measures that you can take in order to make your boyfriend commit. Do not just sit around and wait for him to take action.
