  When it comes to things that people hate to do around the house, washing the windows might be at the top of the list. So learning some good window cleaning methods could make the job a lot simpler for you. Or at least maybe you will not hate it as much. And for most household chores that is half the battle.

Windows today are actually a lot easier to clean than they were back in your parents day. The windows then were fairly stationary, they went up and down. That was all, they did not have any tilt or easy removal types. So cleaning could involve ladders and twisting into awkward positions. And generally from that angle streaks were hidden until you got into a place where you could see them.

With windows tipping in or rotating, you can actually lay them down to clean. This keeps all of the cleaners you like to use from dripping on the floor or wall before they have a chance to do the job. And it also makes it easier on your back. But there is still going to be work involved. And a decision on the types of cleaners that you think will make the job easier for you.

Many of the old timers, and a lot of their offspring, still swear by vinegar water and newspapers. If you ask them why they are going to say it is something about the ink in the newspaper. It leaves a film on the glass that keeps it clean longer. And it also gave them something to do with the large collection of papers that keep building up. And vinegar is a great cleaner for more than windows.

More common today are the cleaning solutions and a squeegee. There are several good options with this method. Using one of the sprays is quick but it can be a lot messier with all of the drips. This will teach you to be real quick with the squeegee. Using other cleaners that mix with water also give beautiful results, and they allow the squeegee to glide a little smoother on the window.

Other products on the market would include foam cleaners that would work best with paper towels. But if you would like to save money, you could use your old newspapers to get rid of them. This is a very efficient way to clean the tilt out windows because the cleaner has a tendency to stay in place giving you time to clean more carefully. A squeegee would not be good with this type of cleaner because of smearing.

One thing that you always need to keep in mind, for those hard to reach windows make sure you are safe before you attempt to clean them. If you are going to be on a ladder, plant it firmly against the building and put guards around if possible. Perhaps some white towels placed at eye level would help.

Good window cleaning methods of this type would be having the young people take care of it. It gives them a taste of adventure as well as making sure you have clean windows. And it lets them have their good deed for the day.
