Among the top jobs that require Spanish language, the work of a paralegal is one. paralegals are usually known as legal assistants. They perform all legal functions besides actual litigation. Their work begins by taking preliminary basic information from the client, listing them in comprehensive details and then forwarding it to the attorneys. Their duties also involve drafting legal correspondence that need to be filed with the courts. In very simple words, one can say that the paralegals form the base of any case which is presented to the attorneys for settlement. When an attorney receives a case from a client, they need to form a plan in which the case will be presented before the court. The paralegals can be considered the right hand of the attorneys when it comes to planning the case presentation. Besides this, they also help the attorney in maintaining important dates and deadlines relating to the case. Seeing the functions that the paralegals perform, it is understandable that their role in case presentation is highly important and involves a lot of responsibility. The point to consider and understand here is why paralegals are needed to know foreign languages.

The answer is simple enough. With more and more people relocating to other countries, the number of immigrants from different countries and speaking varying languages has increased. These people have also mingled with the country they are living in as citizens or otherwise. They also live by the same rules and under the same law that governs the nation that they have relocated into. Thus, when they have some legal concern, they also approach the attorneys to get relief from the issue that is concerning them. What comes as a barrier is the language. This discomfort in communication happens in both sides. While the foreign language client is unable to express, the attorney is equally unable to understand. Thus, the difficulty is communication may often lead to wrong understanding of the case, followed by wrong documentation and reporting, which consequently leads to a weak and unjustified case. One cannot force a foreign language client to learn the language of the nation first and they communicate their woes to the attorney. Thus, it becomes necessary in the part of the paralegals to be fluent in communicating with the former.

Spanish speaking paralegal work careers are on the rise. This is because of a number of reasons. To begin with, Spanish is one of the most commonly spoken languages in the world besides English and French. Millions of Spanish speaking people have settled around many countries all over the world, which is one of the reasons why the language has received so much exposure. Therefore, the paralegals are expected to know this language in order to ensure that they can establish suitable and comprehensive communication with this section of the population. It is preferable that the person is trained in the language prior to applying for the position as this will always give the candidate a hand above the rest applying for the same position.
