Why Haven't You Started Your Blog Yet? Simple Steps To Get Started Now! |

| If you are studying the world of internet marketing, you
have certainly read something about the importance of having
a blog. It is your central hub. It is the main area that
tells your readers all about you and it is your opportunity
to engage them by offering great content, and build trust by
providing amazing value. This is how people will come to
know, like and trust you which will eventually translate
into long-term partnerships for your business. So why haven't you started your blog yet I can tell you from learning how to do it myself, that you just have to sit down and do it! It is not difficult and it is extremely important for you AND for your business. Not to mention that it is REALLY FUN!! Seriously! This is your very own piece of real estate on the internet (as long as you are self-hosting), and an extremely valuable one at that. A very good place to start your own self-hosted blog is HostGator.com. For an extremely nominal monthly fee, you can host your very own WordPress blog, and there's LOTS of support available there too! The reason you want to host your own blog is so that you own it and nothing can ever happen to it. No one can ever take it down. I'm sure you can see what a HUGE problem it would be if that happened. So when you self-host, you avoid that possibility. Once you have purchased your self-hosting account, you'll want to install Fantastico De Luxe down in the "Software/Services" section of your HostGator C-Panel (you can get help with all of this and what it means through their 'Getting Started Wizard' and their customer support) and that will allow you to install WordPress so you can start creating your blog. Another very important step in this process is to buy your domain name and you actually want to do this before you get your self-hosting account with HostGator. You can do this through GoDaddy.com. I would recommend buying yourname.com because remember, this blog is about YOU! You will be branding yourself through this blog and through everything else you do in your online marketing, so it is highly recommended that you use your name. So do you have about 30 minutes? Buying your domain name, then your self-hosting account, then installing Fantastico De Luxe and WordPress, will only take about 30 minutes and only cost about $20 depending on what plan you choose with HostGator. And again, there is excellent support available, so don't let your lack of understanding or your fear hold you back from getting this done. If you need to, just pick up the phone and call, and explain what you are trying to do and they will help direct you. Finally, I would start by creating your "My Story" page and by writing your story and everything that has brought you to where you are today. It is an easy place to start because, well, it's YOUR STORY, and you don't have to do any research or learn anything new to write it. And in my opinion, it's the most important page on your blog. People visiting will want to learn about you. They are looking for a person they can relate to, and they will find that out by reading your story. If they are like-minded, I believe it will be at that point that they will want to know even more about you and what you are up to. So get started now! Do not wait another day! This is a critical element of your online marketing strategies so stop procrastinating and get it done! It will be very rewarding and you will be so glad you did! |
