Fairs And Festivals Are Ideal For Donuts

There are a number of reasons why donuts are an ideal food to sell at fairs and festivals. Donuts are different from the competition and will give you a leg up on the trailer next door. People at fairs and festivals are used to seeing the same food items offered over and over again, so imagine them seeing your donuts and being interested because it's outside the ordinary.

Do people attending fairs and festivals ever bring their own food to eat? The answer is sometimes but not likely. The attendees are a captive audience who chose to buy something while there rather than leave to eat a meal or get a snack. It makes perfect sense that they look for something tasty nearby, and that's where your product comes in. You will sell them delicious, warm, freshly-made donuts that are very convenient to eat.

When walking around a fair or festival looking at things, which concession food would be the easiest to eat? A funnel cake, nachos, a piece of pizza, a hamburger, or a bite-sized donut? Maybe you buy a concession food but do not want to eat it all and want to save some for later. Since you paid for it, it would be a waste of money to throw it away. Which can be easily wrapped up for later? A taco, a turkey leg, a corn dog, or a bag of mini-donuts? Which of these foods has less mess to contend with? The answer is always the donuts as people can munch on them conveniently while going about their business.

The rent for space at fairs and festivals is always lower than for a storefront location. The difference could be a few hundred dollars versus several hundred dollars which makes all the difference in profitability. Anywhere you live in America there are always plenty of fairs and festivals within a few hours drive meaning lots of opportunity. The ability to travel also gives you flexibility in your schedule as you can take a break from the work when you want to. There will be more fairs and festivals down the road that you can go to later on when you need the money.

You will have to petition a committee at each fair and festival to set up your cart, and this can be difficult. Committees usually take those return vendors that have been coming the longest, virtually locking out any new vendors from participating. They have to set a limit on how many concession operators to let in, so you may find yourself put on waiting list after waiting list. Be sure to tell the committee that you will be selling something different as that will get their attention. Committees like to have as many different food options as possible to offer their patrons to help have a more successful (and profitable) fair or festival.
