| As a definition, projects are temporary actions with a
defined beginning and end time that is undertaken so as to
obtain a specific result, depending on the goals and
objectives of the organizing company. Considering this,
project management is said to be the science of planning,
organizing and managing the resources of an economical
entity in order to complete such a project. A project management system is a set of procedures and equipment used to collect, analyze and store data about the project's performance. Years ago, information systems consisted mainly of manual processes and physical storage devices; nowadays, many of them have the technical support of computers. They include calendars, budgeting and administration software and give the members of the team the opportunity of collaborating and communicating at all times. Single-user systems are one of the two types of systems on the market and usually include desktop applications. They are designed based on the hypothesis that only one employee will ever need to access project data at a time. It you are running a simple project or one that is not so urgent, such an application is your best bet, because it is simpler and doesn't have any particular requirements. Personal project applications are very similar to single-user ones, because both of them imply only one content editor, but they are quite different. The former are much simpler and they are mostly used for personal or household projects. On the other hand, multiple-user systems can be edited by a larger number of persons at the same time. Each user works on the tasks that are given to him, then the information is embedded in the overall plan. A good example of a multiple-user system is the extranet, a web-based tool that requires constant Internet access. Whatever type of system you might decide to choose, keep in mind that the most important thing is that your organization profits from this. The application must be in accordance to your needs and your objectives, so it can be lucrative and help you finalize your project. |
