| If you have ever tried looking at a satellite view using
Google Earth or similar applications or internet sites then
you be familiar with how awesome they are. I never forget
seeing my own house as viewed by a satellite in orbit. It
was impressive. First you see our great blue planet earth,
next just type in your zip or postcode and the planet turned
to our country. Then it zoomed in further and closer until
we could see the roof of my house. you can even see the
neighbours trampoline in the backyard, woods, landmarks,
nature reserves and more. It was a stunning view. The great thing about watching satellite views is that you can view real photographs from anywhere on earth, Niagara Falls, The Coloseum, craters formed when dinosaurs roamed the land, and anything else you can think of. Your also able to save and share that great satellite image with your friends how about adding more interesting data like your first house, or the town you first lived in. Another thing you can do once you have discovered your sight is that you can tilt and revolve the satellite view showing a birds eye view on the terrain. Some people have asked me if the photos are in real time and if you run around outside your house will you see yourself? The answer is no, we would need a lot of satellites out in orbit if this could happen. The only problem you may have is that your pc might not be powerful enough to handle the application or show the 3D graphics. But if your computer is quick enough you have many options to look at Man Made Objects Its easy to waste unlimited time on Google Earth whizzing in and out of all the worlds major manmade objects. It has turned into one of the most popular time killer amongst computer users nowadays. Viewing the Great Wall of China from the point of view of an orbiting satellite, for example, can justify its size. Simply the fact you can see it from space and covers a good portion of the Earth. Natural Landmarks You can also enjoy browsing the net for satellite images of the world's natural views. There are plenty to see in the US alone. The rainbow-colored hot springs of Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and the snow caps of Sierra Nevada are all astounding sights, you can even see birds eye images, which offer clearer images and angled sights. Google Street View But perhaps the most popular aspect of online digital mapping technology these days is the capability to zoom in to get a street-side view of almost every major city on Earth. This is Google Maps street view feature, of course, which lets you to visit virtually any city in the map and have a virtual tour of it. The images used in street view option are shot from hundreds of car mounted cameras throughout the earth that work every day to make the streetview mode as current as feasible. While your searching, you will see some interesting scenes. Everything from a car wreck to a guy who is drunk. You will have so much enjoyment viewing the worlds sights from Yahoo, Google and Bing although Google Maps probably has the most comprehensive selection of real-world pictures and the smoothest response time for your viewing requirments. So get looking down on the world now. |
