Use Mozy Online Deals and Save Money While Backing Up Your Computer Files

I feel so sorry for a friend of mine who lost so many important files when some virus caused her computer to crash. Before her harddrive crashed completely, she had told me about the problems she was having with her computer, how she found it operating at an unusually slower speed and how it would often hang.

She said that she started experiencing the problems with her computer after she inserted one of her flash disks which she used in an Internet cafÃ©. She scanned the flash disk before actually accessing the files in it, but her anti-virus software's license had already expired that time, so the database of viruses from which it was protecting her computer was no longer updated.

After she told me this, I already had a haunch that a virus might have already infiltrated her computer system. I remember telling her to make a backup of her important files because her computer problems could worsen and cause an eventual system crash. She replied with a loud prayer for it not to happen because it would be a total disaster on her part. She said a great part of her life was stored in her computer, which stored hundreds of her written articles, her budget computations and office files, her thousands of photos, and her favorite videos and songs.

Considering the importance of the files she had stored in her computer harddrive, I was surprised that they were all unprotected. She didn't have any backup of the files and was just relying on her computer's dependability to keep her precious files safe. I told her she shouldn't be so complacent and that it's always wise to have multiple backups of important computer files. Note that I said "multiple backups" as one backup is also deemed unsafe sometimes because even a backup disk can crash or get lost.

I even suggested that she availed of some Internet services that offer online backup features. I told her how I did some online backups of my computer files on Mozy, an online backup service. Presently, I have only done online backups of selected files because I'm still using Mozy's free version, which gives users as much as 2 GB of stored data. Referring users to Mozy also gives users an additional 0.25 GB of free storage space, so I was really hoping that my friend would start using Mozy as my referral so I could enjoy the additional storage allocation.

But, as it turns out, my friend never got around to making an online backup of her files through Mozy (or any backup for that matter), and now it's too late because her important files are lost forever. If only she listened to me and gave some serious time to the important task of backing up her files, the computer virus that destroyed her computer's harddisk wouldn't have been so devastating.

I even told her that should she feel that the 2 GB storage space from Mozy's free version was not enough to back up her files, she could switch to the online backup service's paid version. I said she could get the best online deals with some Mozy coupon codes. But it's too late now. She's already lost her important files because she didn't heed my warning. But I guess she has learned her lesson because she's now asking me how to get hold of some Mozy promotional codes. She's probably more wary now and is now more open to the idea of making online backups of her computer files. She's also getting wise because she's thinking of saving money on her online backup service through some Mozy promo codes.
