| Billiards tables allow players to play different kinds of
games. Some of these are the nine balls, the eight balls and
the 15 balls. The most popular among all these is the nine
balls. Popularized by many well-known players like the
Philippines´ Efren 'Bata' Reyes, now billiards tables are
everywhere. The nine ball game in billiards is the most common kind of billiards game played in many places including in tournaments. The policies of the game is first to have nine balls set up. These nine balls, balls one to nine, should be shot into any of the six pockets in chronological order. First the one, then the two, and then so on. This is only the order of hitting the balls. But as to shooting, the players may aim to shoot into a pocket any of the balls, and in this case, the nine ball should always be the target. The nine ball is the winning ball. It is the ball that when shot into one of the pockets, will give the person the win. Regardless of the ball that needs to be hit first, the moment the nine ball is shot into one of the pockets, the person shooting it is the winner. This game is tricky because it has a big 'luck' factor. A player may have shot all eight balls into the pockets but when his opponent shoots the nine ball, then the latter wins. Another game played in billiards tables is the eight ball. This is also a popular billiard game, but only next to the nine balls game. The goal of the eight balls game is to shoot the eight ball into one of the pockets before the opponent does so. The mechanics of the game is that one of the competitors will be assigned to finish the first seven balls before he gets to hit the eight ball, for a chance to shoot it. Unlike in nine ball, a player can simply make a combination shot so that he shoots the nine ball into one of the pockets even if it´s not the ball on queue, in eight balls, this is not allowed. The eight ball game takes longer to finish, but is equally fun. Another game played using billiards tables is the 15 ball. This game is a lot simpler and easier to play and understand. In this game, the goal is to shoot as many balls as one can. The first to reach a sum of 60 in the computation of the value of the ball successfully shot into the pockets is the winner. |
