A compact audio/video interface for transmitting uncompressed digital data is the High-Definition Multimedia Interface best known as HDMI. The HDMI cables are ones which relay digital video, audio and control signals without any deterioration. All these signals are transmitted over a single cable and using these cables is a space saving solution. Used to connect a high-definition device to an HDTV, one end of the cable needs to be plugged into the HDTV's HDMI input slot and the other end into the device's HDMI output slot. Once this is done, signals can be transmitted and HDMI outputs received. These cables provide excellent results and enhance your home theater experience.

While purchasing these cables, one will come across many inexpensive and many expensive varieties. Inexpensive HDMI cables should be chosen over the latter as both offer identical performance. There is no loss in video quality. The only thing one should keep in mind while opting for inexpensive cables is that every HDMI cable has a rating which should comply with a specific revision of the HDMI standards. HDMI 1.2a rated cables meet the requirements of HDMI 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2 but may not comply with the standards for HDMI 1.3. There are two categories of these cables which are available. Category 1 support HDTV resolutions and frame rates whereas category 2 cables can be used for higher resolutions or higher frame rates.

The Best HDMI cables are those which reduce interference and cross talk. They are designed in a manner that they offer superior quality output by isolating outside noise. Supporting resolutions up to 1080p, these cables use gold plated conductors and offer high frequency response. They also maintain stronger signals that yield superior sonic and video accuracy with precision formulated polyethylene dielectric material. These cables can range from 5 meters to lengths of up to 15 meters. Since these cables carry digital information from your cable box, DVD player, computer, or other media device to high definition display devices, they are not as susceptible to radio frequency interference the way standard audio or speaker cables are. But for longer cables runs, there is a possibility of a difference in picture quality. In order to avoid this, good quality cables should be used.

HDMI cables find their use in applications such as cable, satellite, home theater or DVD connections. HDMI switcher is also play an important role to solve many kind of problem occurs during switching two or more devices.
