Communications or data is a very important part of information technology. Today, all companies in the world needs a computer communications network works fine, flexible, fast and access to data. Imagine there´s no network communication in universities, hospitals, multinational organizations and educational institutions, the challenge is to communicate with each other. In this article you will learn the basic description of a computer network. The targets of this article are people who want the communication network system of knowledge, standards and types of networks. Connect to the network equipment and components. For the exchange of information and resources between two or more computers, the network is known. There are different types of computer networks such as LAN, MAN, WAN and wireless networks. The main units involved are the infrastructure of a computer to hub, switch, router, modem, access point, and network card and network cable.

LAN means local area network and a network in a room in a building or on a network of a small space called LAN. The man stands for Metropolitan Area Network and includes the network between two offices in the city. WAN means wide area network and to cover the connection between two computers or more between the two cities, two countries or continents. There are several computer network topologies. A physical topology defines the layout or design of a network. These topologies are star topology, bus topology; mesh topology, star topology, bus, etc. connected in a star topology, each computer directly into a network to a central hub or switch, as we know it. If all the computers in a star topology, there is a problem that affects other computers on a network.

There are different standards and devices on your network. The most common standard for Ethernet LAN. Key devices in a computer network are a hub, switch, router, modem and access point, etc. A router is used for two different network connections logical and physical. All communications on the Internet is based on the router. Hub / Switch are used for computers on the LAN. We hope that in this article, you may have learned that what is a computer network is important in our lives, which is the network of different devices, standards, topologies and communication classes.
