  We all know that Local Area Network that we know as LAN is particularly used to connect computers, printers and other devices that are all located in an office, building and campuses. However when it comes Wide Area Network that we know as WAN, it is a network that can extended over distances and is used to connect the LANS together.

In this case, users are able to share a document, spread sheet, presentation etc., with another user in actual time by just copying it to his or her workplace, or give the other user right of entry to the computer, just as they were placed in the office next door.

when your work place is facilitated with a WAN network, employees that have been using LAN at their places, regardless of the geographical distance, they are able to freely exchange files and data with others just like if they would have been physically linked to another network.

Fundamentally, a wide area network (WAN) comprises of three components. This includes the access routers, that are basically gateway devices and are linked with the local area network service, one each router has the potential to connect a LAN with a WAN connection. You may find many WAN connections as well that allow actual stable connectivity between sites. Common WAN links are the public networks like Internet, lines loaned from service providers on contracts and the public phone system. Also, the speed of a WANM network is liable to its capacity and attributes.

Furthermore, to make the operations simple and easy, and to reduce the cost, the connectivity is established over public infrastructures. Virtual Private networks that are known as VPNs, and are the primary solution for security and help, create protective virtual tunnels, which enable two locations to transfer data. These VPNs play a very important role to protect all the communication that is transferred over the internet.

In addition, in order to have high quality performance and stability of connections, you can prefer to have a Broadband DSL along with stable modem services. Alternatively, these connections may not be accessible from various locations of the globe. All security precautions are well monitored by broadband connections since their service is always online for all business networks.

Centrally preserved corporate blogs are like the communiqu boards of past, keeping employees side-by-side of happenings, and future proceedings. Business aside, even modern universities, and schools are now upholding WANS across their many campuses, thus creating one big educational hub. Students can check their grades, schedules, and procedures across campuses.
