Opting for to wear clothing that falls under the fair trade clothing category is one of the best decisions that one could take with respect to doing some good for society and also for the environment. The current environment in which we live has become more polluted over the years due to rapid industrialization and the low concern for the environment. Now with many environmental agencies and organizations pressurizing the ruling government to come up with environment friendly policies, wearing organic clothing is a very good option.

It’s not only the type of material that will decide whether the clothing is fair trade clothing or not, but also the manufacturing process and the people involved in the manufacturing process. There are many third world countries that employ children as part of the garment manufacturing facilities. This prevents the children for getting required basic education
Thus there are a number of garment manufacturers that have ethical working conditions also follow fair trade practices.

Some of the fair trade practices that are followed include giving the pay that the worker deserves and also asking him to work for only the set 8 or 8.5 hours per day. The other major benefit of buying fair trade clothing is that it’s going to help in improving the livelihood of a person, who thus far has been deprived of proper working conditions and proper wages. The term organic clothing actually refers to the organic nature of the raw material that is used to make the clothing, namely the organic cotton.

Organic cotton is something that has caught the attention of the people across the globe in the last few years. Right from the soil that is used for growing the cotton, everything that is used to grow cotton is absolutely free of any chemicals and fertilizers. The soil used for growing organic cotton has been free from any usage of chemicals for more than 3 years.

In the last five years, the production of organic cotton has multiplied 4 times in United Kingdom. The same trend is being witnesses in other parts of Europe. With the organic cotton getting in to the mainstream market place, more and more customers have started using it. This has resulted in the prices coming down in the last 3 years. With more and more people opting for fair trade clothing, manufacturers will be forced to move towards manufacturing clothing items in a fair and just environment that provides equal opportunities to the neglected sections in the society.
