| Spirit Wear sales at schools can be lots of fun and very
profitable. They can build pride and spirit at a school, but
run poorly it can be unprofitable at best. Your goal is for
everyone to want to have that shirt, sweatshirt because its
cool and new and to want to wear it everywhere. Here is how
to have a great sale: 1. Design is king! The most important rule to remember is that younger students want to wear what older students like but not vice versa. So look to high school and even collegiate designs for your inspiration. 2. Boys are half your enrollment at school so you want to be aware that the design is not too feminine. Font and color are the main culprits here, so you need to be aware of your choices here. You can offer the t shirt or sweatshirt in 2 different colors so one appeals to boys and other to girls. 3. You might not love your school colors, but they will build pride along with your mascot. They are important to include in your design. 4. Too much choice is paralyzing for parents and students alike. Simplify, offer one design on several items for a much bigger impact. Save other designs you like for another year, or later sale but don't muddle up your sale with too many designs. Your profits will hurt. 5. Run your sale for 10 days, plenty long. If you take longer parents just wait until the last minute to order. Make it a priority by shortening the sale to 10 days, over one weekend. Never start on a Friday. These are key steps to running a successful spirit wear fundraiser, some are intuitive but others are things you might not have thought of. Don't overlook any of them, they are all important. Have a great fundraiser. |
