| If you would like a more dazzling smile, simply whitening
your teeth could be what you're looking for. Because we aren't happy with the appearance of our teeth, we may not have the beautiful smile we'd really like. Numerous individuals are just not blessed with natural pearly white teeth, and other people have tarnished their teeth with drinks including coffee, red wine, and tea. It may just be that your teeth are not quite as bright as you have always wanted, so whitening them will be a subject of great interest to you. Teeth can also become discolored as your age progresses. Luckily, getting your teeth whitened can make you look years younger. Visiting your dentist is the first step to take for anyone thinking about whitening their teeth. Your dentist will take an impression of both your upper and lower teeth. Then it gets shipped out to a laboratory. The lab will make a mold which they will use to create a copy of your teeth They manufacture a custom plastic tray based on this model. They will then shipp the tray to your dentist. When the trays are received, your dentist will teach you how exactly to use them and what to put in them. The process is as simple as shooting the whitening gel out of the included syringes into the teeth compartments that you desire to make white. These trays will next be put inside your mouth while you are sleeping. You keep doing this until your teeth are as white as you would like. The process lasts about 2 or 3 weeks. Many patients see improvemenets after their first treatment. Discolorationg from fleurosis or tetracycline use will take a longer term of treatment, about 2 to 6 months. These cases are unusual. It's recommended to wait at least two weeks after whitening, if you need to get any restorative work done, so the color has time to stabilize. Once you reach your whitening goal, you might never have to whiten again. There has been a lot of study done on how effective whitening is. Many patients are still happy with their tooth color years after their treatment. Some people will have some degree of sensitivity in the beginning of, or at some point into, the treatment. This sensitiviy is not unbearable, and will not contine after treatment has been completed. In case of excessive sensitivity, the patient may choose to use sensodyne toothpaste. If you do not choose to consult your dentist, there are also products you can purchase at the drugstore which are safe. You will probably not receive as desirable a result. These products will not give you the dramatic results you're looking for, although they will slightly reduce some stains and possibly even lighten the color of your teeth. The better do-it-yourself kits are those with pliable mouth trays or with plastic strips. Both of these options can be expensive, but they will ensure a custom fit. Avoid any type of staining agents for at least two weeks after undergoing whitening treatment. Cigarettes, coffee, tea, and red wine are known to stain teeth. You should contact your dentist if your gums become very irritated, if your teeth become very sensitive, or you experience extreme pain. |
