| Often the people sitting at the side of the runway are the
most important people in the fashion industry, the fashion
royalty are often sat beside the runway and this group are
made up from magazine editors, industry insiders, department
buyers and infamous fashion bloggers. It is this set of people who are the responsible for setting trends, what they like in a show is what will appear in the fashion magazines, be bought for department stores and talked about on the internet. Some of the most popular trends recently selected by the people on the front row are: Satchels One of the most popular examples of the satchel has to be the Mulberry Alexa bag, a satchel named after Alexa Chung who made the bag become popular wearing it to many, many fashion shows. Eighties style shoulders This theme has been adopted by all the major high street stores and seems set to stay for some time. The nautical theme often recurs, Paris Hilton wore a primp nautical anchor themed top years ago. There are lots of nautical style pendants available at the moment. Emphasized shoulders Thrown back from the eighties the emphasis of the shoulders in tops and dresses has had a rebirth this year. Future Warrior The future warrior look has been very popular this spring with designers such as Sass and Bide using leather and metal plating on their clothes. Lots of jewellery made of bronze and metal has appeared recently. Sheer fabric. See through and sheer fabrics have become very popular since late 2009 and now the high street seem to be offering lots of dresses and tops made in fabrics like this. Only for the brave this style leaves little to the imagination. Experimenting with trends is always fun but it is important to always think about what will flatter your figure and what will be comfortable on a day to day basis for you. Buying really high heels for example when you cannot walk in them is not only a waste of money but also an accident risk! |
