| In the past, when it came time to sort out "family photos"
that meant sitting on the floor with hundreds or even
thousands of pictures from the past few outings to put into
an album. Thankfully, technology is now allowing us to
quickly load all of our pictures into our personal computers
at home. Even this system is not fully carefree and can also be a little frustrating. If you take lots of pictures at each and every opportunity, chances are you've had to spend hours organizing them and probably wished you could rename photos with less fuss. This is because when you load pictures into your computer from a camera, it is going to choose its own name for the file, not something you want. A series of letters and numbers will be the name. This is not helpful when you want to know what a picture is. Instead, when you want to find a particular set of pictures you most likely have to keep clicking file after file until you can find where the group is. But if you have a photo renamer program it would be much easier to change to file names that you understand. Here's how it works. Once you go into the program, you will highlight the names of all of the pictures that are in the group that you want to make a change to. Let's use, for an example, all of last year's pictures from summer vacation. After the entire grouping of photos has been highlighted, you should be able to just make a few clicks to change all of their names to something like "Italy Summer Trip" to make them easy for you to spot. Now let the program do its work and change every one of those files to have the name you have selected as the first part of it. Sometimes, those who are into more advanced photographic usages need to look for more specifics in a photograph. In this case, where the photographer needs to sort by exposure or white balance, a picture renamer program that can do this may be more important. Whether you know it or not, quite often this information is in invisible tags attached to the photo file. If you are using the correct program, you can sort your pictures by these tags to find just what you need. |
