| Reducing debt often associates with radically cutting your
spending and basically saying No to all pleasures of life.
While you do have to make some sacrifices in order to get
you out of nasty debt, here are some easy ways to reduce
debt and still have a life. 1. Use the library. If you love to watch movies and read books, stop wasting money on movie rentals and stop buying books. Use the library instead. You can rent movies and books for free, so why pay for them? In fact, by paying your taxes, you are paying for the library already, so you might very well use it. 2. Drink at home. If you like to go out and have a drink or two or if you like to have a drink with dinner at the restaurant, try to break this habit. No, I don’t mean you should stop consuming alcohol, although it probably wouldn’t hurt. I suggest that instead of paying $5-$7 per drink at a bar or at a restaurant, have a drink at home instead. Even if you only go out for a drink twice a week, you can save as much as $50 by skipping it or having a drink at home. 3. Wear a sweater. Depending on where you live, you can save hundreds of dollars a year by reducing the temperature on your thermostat. Wearing a sweater is not only going to save you money which you can put towards your debt, but it will help the planet. 4. Learn how to cook. Cooking is a great hobby to pick up, because it will save you money and will prevent you from your more expensive hobbies, such as shopping. 5. Drop your bad habits. Yes, you will save hundreds of dollars if you stop buying food you don’t need and stop buying cigarettes. In the long run you will save thousands of dollars by being healthy and not going to the doctor. Being sick is very expensive in this country, so do yourself a favor and try to live healthy. |
