However, those who are below 18 years of age may still offer their services, but as a "helper" which arrangement will requirement an adult supervision from the client. Oftentimes, families like to hire applicants who can render service for one year minimum. This is important to the children's emotional development. Applicants who are not prepared may chose to still help in some other ways. Before one even starts to apply for such work, one has to examine oneself whether one can deal with the rigors of childcare and to check on one's skills. When dealing with a child one has to have the following qualities: patience, stamina, concern, dependability and understanding. Equiped with the above qualities, one has to be resourceful and imaginative in learning the ways of the child, while leading the child. Candidates may post online one's application, fill up required forms, and attach complete resume to known agencies with proven track record. It is industry practice for agencies to verify the authenticity of all pertinent information about the candidate. Once the agency decides a person is a good candidate, they will perform a thorough background check, and if cleared, will refer the applicants to their clients who will in turn, screen them for specific requirements. |
