If you donīt know what Ballorieh is, you know nothing about Arabic sweets. Ballorieh is one of the most delicious and most desired Arabic sweets.

Ballorieh is one of the Arabic sweets that stand out. It has two characteristics that make it very different that all other pastries.

First, it is the only Middle Eastern pastry that is white in color. I have never seen a pastry that white before. It is so white, it is hard to believe it is made of dough. It actually turns out that it is made of nearly raw dough. All the pastries I have seen before are baked and thus the dough color becomes either golden or brown, depending on how long it is baked. Lightly baked pastries have usually a golden color and pastries baked for longer time posses a brown color. Ballorieh is kept almost raw, and it is thus all white.
Well, the dough is white. It is however filled with pistachios, which give the filling a bright green color. This contrast between the green and the white make it stand out very much in any assortment of Arabic sweets.

The other reason Ballorieh stands out a lot is its taste. It is sweeter than the average pastry because it is abundant in sugar syrup. It is also abundant in pistachios, which makes it great for people who like pistachio a lot. If you crave pistachios, Ballorieh will become one of your preferred desserts.

Ballorieh is a dessert, but it is usually not served by itself. It is offered as part of an arrangement of Middle Eastern pastries and sweets that contain many other pieces such as Baklava, Basma, Borma, and many others.
It is a sweet of the Middle East, but even there, not everyone likes it. Thatīs because of its unique characteristic: The raw dough. Not many people are fans of row dough. Many prefer something like Baklava or Borma where the dough is well baked. However, for those who are adventurous and like things that look and taste different, Ballorieh is usually their favorite.

More specifically, Ballorieh is considered a member of the assorted Baklava family. Assorted Baklava is one class of Arabic sweets that is made with nuts and dough. Assorted Baklava is the most popular dessert in Arabic and Middle Eastern countries.

In summary, Ballorieh is one of the most interesting Arabic sweets due to its white color that makes it stand out in Arabic sweets arrangements.
