How To Get Free Wine

As Benjamin Franklin so eloquently stated, 'The discovery of a wine is of greater moment than the discovery of a constellation. The universe is too full of stars.' I think we can all raise our glasses and toast to that... Now prepare for another great moment, as you are about to discover a simple strategy that anyone can use to drink all the wine they want - free of charge...

For the majority of people, most of their wine drinking happens in 1 of 3 places - their home, a restaurant, or a bar. Letīs start at the bar. After work you meet with some friends, have a few glasses, and close out your bill before heading home. When the waitress or bartender hands you your tab, you need to save your receipt and take it home with you. Once you get home, take that receipt from the bar and file it away in an envelope, notebook, folder, box, drawer, or some other place where it will be safe. You are keeping that receipt because the entire amount of money that you spent will be returned to you. That piece of paper represents free wine, so donīt lose it.

Letīs say you go out to dinner at a nice restaurant and decide to try a couple of bottles over the course of your meal. Money is no object, so go for some good wines. Just like at the bar, remember to save your receipt and tuck it away with the others. Your wine (and your dinner) were free, and you will need those little pieces of paper to get your reimbursement.

You decide to host a wine tasting at your house (or bar-b-q, or party, or soiree, or get-together, or something) and invite a few people over to your residence. You need to go to the store and stock up on food and beverages for your gathering, and make the prudent choice of buying more than enough bottles so that you donīt run out during the event. After paying for the copious amount of vino you have selected at the register, the cashier will present you with another receipt. Save it.

Back at your house, you and your friends have an excellent evening. Of the 30 bottles that were purchased, 22 and a half of them have been consumed. Now you possess 7 uncorked bottles in your rack and a recycle bin brimming with the evidence of a great party. Ensure that you do not throw that receipt out with the other trash. Place it safely next to your bar tab and dinner bill in the folder, because this expense is getting reimbursed as well. You and your friends enjoyed a ton of good wine and you have another 7 bottles waiting on you to finish that you will be paid back for. Your receipts are worth a lot of money.

So how exactly does one exchange those receipts for money? Well first you need to be a business owner so that you qualify for writing off all that wine as legitimate business expenses on your tax return. It doesnīt have to be a million dollar McDonaldīs franchise or something that will take hundreds of thousands of dollars to start. That would not make any sense.. Now-a-days there are thousands of small, home-based and online businesses that can be started for very little initial investment of capital.

These inexpensive companies usually come turnkey, which means you do not actually have to build and manage a traditional company full-time. You just buy the business, work it during your free time, and take advantage of the benefits that business ownerīs receive. As the owner of a small business, you will take all of those receipts that you have acquired and write them off on your tax return as business expenses.

The reason that your wine from bars and restaurants can be claimed as a business expense is that, while at said restaurant or bar, you will spend some time promoting your side-project. Tell some folks about your business, demonstrate your product, give them a link where they can watch a presentation, exchange business cards, etc... Thatīs how business is done, and your business is providing you free wine. So promote your business.

The same principle applies at your home. During the wine tasting, have a short presentation of your business, ask them if they want to purchase your products, or show them how they can also get free wine by owning a small company. Through presenting and promoting your business to your friends, you have hosted an event with a business purpose - which qualifies as a tax-deductible business expense. All 30 bottles of wine will have a net cost of $0, because you will be transferring the tab to Uncle Sam.

When you really think about it, the US Tax Code is actually nothing more than a big game. By design, business owners have a huge advantage in the game. Unfortunately, the majority of Americans donīt understand the rules and will most likely lose. Big business and the wealthy never lose, because they completely understand how the game is played and how to leverage the rules. Now that you are equipped with the same knowledge, my fellow wine lovers, get on out there and start playing the game for yourself. And play to win. At the very least, you will score some free wine and have a great time in the process.
