If your mouth isnīt healthy then the rest of your body wonīt be healthy. The mouth is one of the first lines of defense against disease and illness. You need to do everything you can to make sure that it is as healthy as possible. After all, if your front line goes down, the job gets that much harder for the rest of your body.

The good news is that, for the most part, proper teeth care isnīt that hard. Itīs mostly common sense. Here are some things that you can do to ensure that your mouth is as healthy as it can possibly be.

Neglecting your tongue is a no-no! Bacterium and germs are concealed in the tongue. Rake the brush over your tongue several times, when you brush your teeth in the A.M., and P.M. Do not clean with too much force. And, if you scrub too hard, you can initiate a lot of problems! Rather, take the brush and run it over your tongue a few times. At the posterior of your tongue start to brush towards the front. Bacterium and horrible breath caused by germs will be taken care of with this. Mouthīs will also be aided in a good feeling all day also. Fluoride toothpaste should be used when brushing your teeth. Fluoride is added to the drinking water of many states in the United States, but not all states follow that practice. The fluoride added to the drinking water in those states still isnīt in high enough concentration to be able to replace a good fluoride toothpaste. Because fluoride coats the enamel of your teeth and bonds to it, the germs and bacteria have a more difficult time getting to into your teeth and causing problems. There isnīt as much protection when you use a non fluoride toothpaste. Instead of getting rid of them, that stuff will just move the germs around.

Flossing your teeth should be done at least once a day, preferably at night. Flossing is something that most people donīt like to do. If it isnīt done often it can be painful as well as being awkward and difficult to do. The floss can get into places that the toothbrush just canīt reach. The best way to get rid of the debris that gets into the gums between your teeth is by flossing. A wide variety of problems can arise from allowing the debris between the teeth to harden into plaque. These days flossing can be made easier than it used to be. You can buy inexpensive pre-threaded 'sticks' that can make the task of flossing much easier. There are lots of ways that you can care for your teeth and improve your oral hygiene. Teeth care can be as simple as remembering to brush your teeth before you go to bed each night. For the most part oral decay happens because a person is simply negligent and doesnīt take the time to do the daily activities that need to be done to keep the mouth healthy.
