  Cocoa.

You’ll all probably be both overjoyed and surprised to see this as top of my list for foods for lowering cholesterol, however, it is one the biggest sources of good cholesterol (HDL cholesterol) available. You will increase your level of good cholesterol by approximately 25% if you take about a quarter of a cup of cocoa every day. You need to persevere with this to get the best results so try taking it for about 3 months and see the results.

Orange Juice.

Another excellent source of good cholesterol, you’ll all no doubt be less surprised to see this healthy drink on my list. You may already be drinking this every morning but if not start trying it with your breakfast. It is excellent at hydrating the body’s cells and consequently increasing good cholesterol in the body. As an added bonus orange juice is also a wonderful source of vitamin C. Try drinking 3 – 4 glasses a day and you will see very quickly how great this is at lowering cholesterol.

Eggs.

What’s this I hear you say, eggs on a list of great foods for lowering cholesterol? Eggs may have a poor reputation for increasing cholesterol but what most people don’t know is that they are another terrific source of HDL. They also contain a large amount of protein, which you’ll require to help you replenish those muscles of yours that you should also be exercising on a daily basis. Eggs are delicious to eat any time of day, try poaching, boiling or making an omelette to provide you with a little variation.

Garlic.

Everyone should eat garlic on a daily basis, it is delicious. Not only is it extremely healthy and a good source of HDL cholesterol but it is also extremely tasty....So What if it makes your breath smell a little. If you’re feeling adventurous, pop a whole garlic in the oven, roast and enjoy as a side, smells and tastes terrific.

Fish.

Another one you might have expected to see on the list, but it is vital that you are reminded of this key source of omega-3 fats every time you read anything about cholesterol. Omega-3 fats give your HDL levels a substantial boost and are amongst those foods essential for lowering bad cholesterol. If you don’t like fish, I’m sorry but try it again. There are so many types of fish that there must be one out there for you, keep trying as your heart will thank you.
