| The Problem If you are a Magic the Gathering (MTG) player who has been playing for a bit, you've probably got a load of MTG cards that are all over the place, and as a result, it can be nearly impossible to figure out what cards you have, and also to be able to find them! If you're looking to sell off any Magic the Gathering cards and earning some serious cash from them, sorting your Magic The Gathering card collection is an essential part of the process. This article is an overview of how you can to effectively sort your MTG cards so that you can fully understand what you have and move forward with your MTG collection. The 5 Steps This is a summary of the process needed to sort your Magic the Gathering cards - it will help you find cards and maximise your understanding of your collection for selling. 1. The Whole Story This step is quite simple, but vital. Put all of your Magic the Gathering collection together in one place on a big table - a simple step. It's vital to start by having everything to hand. 2. Sort by Set Now we go through probably the longest step in the process - sorting the big pile of Magic the Gathering cards into sets. Sort through that big pile of card and sort them into piles - one pile should contain all cards from one Magic the Gathering set. As you are sorting them, try to keep the piles in chronological order if possible, so you have the older sets first, and the newest last. 3. Sort by Block Next group those piles of cards into their respective Blocks. A Block in Magic the Gathering is a collection of Sets, so this step should be quite easy with a list of the Magic the Gathering sets and blocks to hand. 4. Sort by Rarity Now that you have your piles of MTG cards sorted by set and block, we shall now sort your collection by rarity. Finding your most sought after cards is very important, so this step will help you to find your real value cards, namely your mythic rares and rares. 5. Sort by Colour Ok, so now you have piles of cards sorted by set, block and rarity, the final step in the sorting process is to sort your cards by colour. Go through each one of those piles of cards, and then sort your collection by colour. The standard way to sort a collection is in the standard order of the colours of Magic which is: - White - Blue - Black - Red - Green - Multicolour - Artifact - Land Sorted - this should now leave you with a collection of Magic the Gathering cards which are nice and sorted, and easy to find anything you want. Summary A sorted MTG card collection is a joy to own as you can then have more fun with that collection. It can also be a real asset if you decide to sell any of your cards as you can find and value your collection quickly and easily. This really does help you to realise the full potential of your Magic the Gathering cards! |
