Why Invest In A Home Security System |

| It is a fact that home invasion robbery has steadily be on
the rise, where the rate of other forms of robbery have
dropped. The main reason for this is that burglars see homes
as very easy targets, while banks and convenient stores have
become increasingly harder to rob. Burglars survey homes and
neighborhoods, and if you become the victim of a home
invasion robbery there is a specific reason why the burglars
chose your home. It is also a fact that having a home security alarm makes your home three times less likely to be broken into. When burglars are surveying neighborhoods they are looking for easy opportunities. They look for homes where the owners are gone often, where there are no signs of the home having a security system, and where they notice that windows and doors are left unlocked when no one is home. Many burglars are just waiting for homeowners and residents to let their guards down. They often wait for the most opportune time to break in. Some burglars are even known to leave mailers and fliers on doorsteps to monitor how long it takes for the homeowner or resident to remove them. The best time for burglars to break in is when they notice that the homeowners are out of town. Always have your neighbors monitor your home when you are away and ask them to remove mailers, newspapers, and other items from your doorstep. It is important to be aware of how burglars think and of the possibility that you could become a victim of a home invasion robbery. If you have a home security system in place make sure that you use it. Many homeowners invest in alarm systems and then do not activate them regularly. This could be a dangerous thing to forget to do. If you see a stranger through your peephole, do not automatically open the door. If there is a home invader at your door you could be met with brute force upon opening the door. Again, many homeowners have peepholes and door chains that they simply do not use. As stated above, burglars are waiting for the most opportune time to break into your home. As summer approaches there are spikes in crime in many cities across the country. This is because it becomes an opportune time for burglars to gain easy access to homes. Many homeowners and residents leave doors and windows open in the evening to let the heat out, and may forget to lock or close them before going to bed. About 35% of burglaries are committed when a burglar simply lets him or herself in through an unlocked door or window. So this may sound like obvious stuff, but it's stuff that we have to remember. Your home and family's safety depend on it. |
