Raising the level of relaxation and overall welcoming ambience of our properties is a goal shared by the the greater part of us. In most situations the right type of wood blinds helps us to achieve both of those things. On the other hand, wooden blinds cost much more than blinds built of vinyl, plastic or aluminum.

The problem for most individuals and designers is how to decorate to make great atmosphere without spending a lot and the resolution is to use faux wood blinds. Faux wood blinds are built from a combination of chemicals, adhesives and veneers to reproduce the look of real wood. Manufacturers were concerned about the variety and amount of chemicals applied to produce these blinds when they were originally marketed; sellers worried what the potential customer would think.

As the pop-culture of green building has become more powerful in the market place the chemical off setting has shrank making the fabrication of these chemicals less devastating. Cheap faux wood blinds can be built from particle board; an engineered wood that is employed in a lot of home furnishings. Hardboard, which is also used to create wood floors, can also be used in their construction. Faux wood can be built of laminated veneer wood and lumber, too. PVC can also be used, with a veneer or other covering to make them look like wood, to make faux wood blinds.

Faux wood blinds are an ideal trade for real wood blinds and at a portion of the cost they can get you a similar look and feel. Because they mix in without calling attention to themselves, families like real wood and faux wood blinds. Faux wood blinds are immensely easier to wash because they are built of plastic; one should keep away from excessive moisture exposure because the blinds could warp.

Cordless window blinds are an exciting recent addition to the window treatment market. These blinds don't need to have a cord to relocate the blind and secure it into place. This has been a much loved addition for individuals with safety considerations or small youngsters who may either play with the cords or get entangled in them. If your blinds are in a less accessible area, the use of a motorized blind is a sensible choice.
