Less Is More Even With Mind Maps

  Today I am training a group of humans in mind mapping, smart reading (I prefer this over speed reading because it’s having little impact to learn) and memory training. Since I am writing this early in the morning... I will prevent it short. Only a reminder of a little yet primary piece of counsel you obtained earlier.



During my training courses (and today) I counsel humans to invent only a small amount of visual overviews every week. This could be one for (all) your projects and one to clear your mind or even capture your current state of mind (we'll discuss this later). Don't invent a heap of visuals every day.

People who start out using mindmap oftentimes invent them for each tiny piece of selective information. I once even saw an individual visualize my name and mobile telephone number! ! ! - Really.

My main reasons for warning you in regards to creating too a heap of mindmaps are:

When you only have to manage a small amount of mindmaps, they give you real overview
Many person and scattered maps aren’t easy to manage
Remember, you’re not in the business of formulating or managing visual maps! You are in control over your Mind Maps and the selective information has to work for you!
Make certain you have only 3 overviews which you use on a each and everyday basis. You more than likely don't need more to actively aid you in your work and each and everyday activities.

A mindmap with your long-term goals, missions and goals intended to be attained. Only modified a small amount of times per month/year.
A weekly/monthly or project overview. This map may be modified on a each and everyday basis and shows you the projects you’re working on.
A each and everyday map to coordinate your thoughts and other each and everyday selective information. This offers you an overview of what you think of and what you work on right now. Update when necessitated. This each and everyday visual can be viewed as a scratch pad. Please archive it or get rid of it at the end of the day.
The selective information from your each and everyday map can be transposed into the on a weekly basis overview. Are you working on a project and you have a breakthrough? Add this new selective information to the suitable project in the project overview.
When you see that selective information from the on a weekly basis and each and everyday maps influence you on an even more prominent scale, you may add a new goal or goal to be attained to your long-term mindmap.

This way your maps offer you an overview of the short, medium and long-term. They are likewise interrelated. Each map influences the other maps.

I in truth like it that I may review my long-term goals, values and missions on a each and everyday basis. It keeps me focalized. The best thing is that I only need 3 pieces of paper to do this!
