Everyone likes television and everyone likes movies, but if you set your surround sound system up the proper way, with a good television, you are going to enjoy them even more. The centerpiece of any fantastic entertainment system will begin with a good high def tv. But once the tv is chosen, and we will assume that you´re already that far at least, then the surround sound and the way you watch the movies needs to be picked out.

This can mean that you choose either DVD or Blu-ray to watch your movies on. Assuming that you have made the jump to the high definition television, then you may want to make the jump up to Blu-ray. Blu-ray is the absolute best way to watch movies at home, giving the viewer perfect sound and perfect picture. There is no way to get higher definition at home than with a Blu-ray player and if you like to hear and see all of the details and sounds of the movie, you can´t get better than Blu-ray.

However, if you aren´t ready or prepared to upgrade to the higher tech, you can still use an up converting DVD player that gets you near perfect sound and picture. But beyond just what you´re going to play the movies and television on, you have to take into consideration what you are going to listen to the movies and television on. Sound is a very important aspect of watching and thoroughly enjoying a movie or show.

Have you ever attempted to watch a football game without the sound on, in a restaurant or at home? It just does not feel right, the experience is diminished and there is something lost in the translation. So when you´re putting together your home theater system, one of the most important components is going to be the surround sound.

But while the sound was a tricky proposition in the past, it could be a little difficult to set up for the average person, the new systems are built with convenience in mind and are much more user friendly. They are going to be much easier to set up and much easier to operate than in the past. So when you are deciding on a system, the technical know how of the operator should come into play, but it isn´t nearly as important a factor as it was a few years ago.
