| Some people spend a lot of time trying to their dream
apartment inside their mind. They spend years trying to
perfect that picture, what the living room should look like,
how many bedrooms-a least one bathroom in the masterīs
bedroom-which direction the windows are facing and how much
sunlight flows into the apartment, etc. That is how you
dream your dream apartment. But do you ever dream the area around your dream apartment? Did you ever stop to think, 'Where should my apartment be located? In the middle of the big city? Or closer to the suburbs? Where exactly in the middle of the city or in the suburbs?' These questions, do you ever ask them to yourself when you dream your dream apartment? Thing is, most people donīt bother to think about where theyīd like to find their dream apartment. Hey, as long as itīs an apartment and it looks just like the one in your dreams, right? Wrong. Fact is location is just as important as the quality of apartment itself. Here are some tips to help make a better decision when choosing the right location to look for your dream apartment. 1. Safety and crime prevalence in the neighborhood Safety is still your number one concern. You donīt want to end up living in a neighborhood where itīs not safe and turf wars are a common topic of conversation. You want a place somewhere safe and secure for you and your family to live in. The best way to check the crime rates of a particular location is to look it up on the Internet. Search engines like Yahoo!, Google and MSN can come up with very detailed reports on crime statistics so these places are always a good way to start. 2. Structural conditions Looking at the structures and buildings of a certain community is sometimes enough to decide whether the area is fit to live in or not. If youīre interested in a particular apartment, try to drive around the place twice, once during the day and another in the evening. On your first drive around, check the condition of the buildings and see if the local government is following the countryīs strict building codes. At night, look for people loitering in the dark areas. Does the community feel safe at night? 3. Access to public transportation Not everyone owns a car of their own. If you couldnīt care less about whether the apartment comes with its own parking space, then you need to consider the apartment being accessible to public transportation. How far is it from the train station youīll need in order to get to work in the morning? How far away is the nearest bus stop? Access to public transportation is also an important factor when choosing the location of your future apartment. Itīs a general rule to choose the location first before choosing an apartment. A great apartment means nothing if you canīt feel safe to sleep at night. |
