| Hummingbird fishfinder models are some of the most popular
among American fishermen due to their innovative use of
technology in their devices. Founded in 1971, Humminbird s
first products were the Depth Sounders but the company
really grew to prominence with the introduction of the
first-ever waterproof depth sounder, the Super Sixty, in
1974 which quickly became one of the best selling
fishfinders at the time. Since then, Humminbird has
developed a reputation as one of the premiere innovators in
the fish finder industry and currently offers an assortment
of products that also include marine radios and GPS
systems. One of Humminbird s newest technologies to be offered in its Hummingbird fishfinder models is Down Imaging, which utilizes its patented Side Imaging technology but points it straight down to provide a clear image of what is under your boat. DI allows you to clearly see underwater obstacles such as rocks, timber and brush which can snag your line. Down Imaging imagery is created using razor-thin slices of high-frequency sound waves, while Narrow Mode technology evaluates the readings to ensure that only activity straight down is displayed instead of to one side or the other. DI can also be combined with Humminbird s 2D sonar and Side Imaging sonar technology to produce the widest possible view. Hummingbird fishfinder models with DI include: 597ci HD DI Combo. This fishfinder combines DI technology with a built-in GPS to ensure that no fish will be able elude you and you ll never go home empty-handed. The 597ci features a five-inch LCD screen with 640x640 pixel resolution and 256 colors, as well as a 50-channel internal GPS with already-programmed UniMap maps that display the whole continental US coastline with a resolution of 30 meters per pixel and an SD card slot for loading Navionics or LakeMaster charts. Exclusive SwitchFire technology gives you the option to display returns in two ways - Max that displays all returns and Clear that displays only fish and structures - while the Dual Beam Plus sonar has 25-degree and 16-degree beams that covers an area equal to one-third of your depth. The 597ci also features a quick-disconnect mount that swivels 360-degrees and tilts 90-degrees. 596c HD DI. This model is a sonar-only fishfinder with the same superior features you expect from Humminbird. The 596c features a 4.5-inch display with LED backlight and 640x640 pixel resolution. The dual-beam (83 kHz/200 kHz) sonar provides you with viewing angles of 20-degrees to 60-degrees and lets you see up to a depth of 600ft. It also comes with SwitchFire technology as well as the tilt-and-swivel easy-disconnect mounting system. 570 DI Portable. The best fishfinder for fishermen for whom portability is a must, the 570 features a five-inch 12-level grayscale display with 640x320 pixel resolution and Dual Beam (200 kHz/455 kHz) sonar cones that give you viewing angles of 25-degrees and 16-degrees as well as Down Imaging sonar with beam coverage of 455 kHz and 800 kHz and viewing angles of 75-degrees and 45-degrees.
