| They say you 'drive for show and putt for dough'. Well, we
are going to look at a few tips to help you put on a show!
Donīt try and hit the ball hard. Simply hitting the ball as hard as you can results in a tense and inefficient physical swing. You can end up achieving the opposite of what you wanted and land the ball way short. A relaxed swing and a relaxed attitude will achieve more accuracy and generally more distance. Donīt worry too much about side winds. A solid and low side-spinning shot will not be affected much in the air. More people get in trouble overcompensating for a side wind than if they had just played at their target. Never give the wind more than ten yards of credit either way. There is always a tendency to uncock the wrists early on the downswing in an effort to unleash a little more energy into the hit. But this action causes the wrists to break, and youīre likely either to top your ball, blade it, or snap hook it. You can avoid this by deliberately pulling the club down into the back of your ball with your left hand. Donīt worry about smothering the ball. As your weight shifts to your left side and the body opens up, you will find that the club uncocks naturally. Work on these tips and make sure you tee off with a positive mindset. The more you practice and implement what you learn, the more confidence you will gain in your ability to hit it straight and long. And watch your scores begin to plummet! |
