Reiki and Religion |

| Reiki is practiced by people from many different religions
and by people with no religious convictions. Reiki itself is
not religious. One thing that most practitioners find raised
at some point in their work is the subject of Reiki and
Christians. There are websites that concentrate purely on
answering these type of questions and give full and well
thought out answers. What draws people to Reiki? What draws people to the church? Have you ever felt that you were being called by your God, the Holy Spirit or just something greater than yourself to practice the gift of healing? If the answer is yes, is Reiki right for you? After gaining a clear understanding of what Reiki is, the best way for you to decide if you should take up the practice of Reiki can be best answered through prayer and meditation. You will intuitively know. Churches have a long tradition of adopting practices that enhance the spiritual life of members based the actions of Jesus as described in the Bible. This can come in the form of music, dance, liturgy, prayer, baptism and such. This is further enhanced by the use of prayer beads, incense, bells, candles, crosses and such. The range of methods is as varied as the range of churches. They may be all different but they all come under the broad term of religion. Christians seek ways to increase and strengthen their spiritual moments. In I Corinthians 12:4-12, Paul speaks of the gifts to including speaking wisdom and knowledge and the power to heal. Paul goes on to describe people within the church as having roles as apostles, prophets, teachers, those who perform miracles, those who heal, those who direct others and those who speak in strange tongues (I Corinthians 12:28-31). Reiki Level 2 is often the energy level used by faith healers. Is Reiki not just the laying on of hands? Was Jesus not seen to do this? Does God not work through us. Some Christians look to John 14:12 as an important source of guidance and reassurance that becoming healers. Many Reiki practitioners, whilst training, experience greater spiritual awareness than ever before. In those moments, they experience so much knowledge and understanding as they tap into the collective unconscious, for most for the first time. Is it not possible according to John's teachings that it is possible to develop as healers and indeed our duty to do so, if we feel spiritually guided in that way. It is important for Christians to follow the teachings and examples of Jesus as fully as they can. Examples as seen in Mark and Luke for example. Mark tells of a man with leprosy and how Jesus healed him with the laying of his hands on the man. The Bible is full of such examples of what appear to be miracles. So scripture clearly indicates that healing is something appropriate for Christians to be involved with. Page after page suggests this. If you have true faith then you know you are safe and can do know harm as the almighty works through you and with you. You work for the higher good of the person in the knowledge and faith that you do no harm. How wonderful to be part of something bigger than yourself and so beautiful and nurturing. |
