The Wu style uses specific hand form with importance on parallel footwork, while some form of training involves usage of feet closer to each other than other Tai Chi styles. The focus during the hand techniques is mainly on tumbling, grappling, jumping, joint locks and breaks at preliminary level, and sword fencing, knife fencing at advanced levels.

The beginner level in Chen style known as empty hand form or Yi lu, consists of slow hand movements with large motions and expressions occasionally intervening the process. The intermediate level is performed with low stances or frame, the movements gradually become smaller, while the changes in directional force become milder. The advanced level increases the leg strength attained from the previous level thus allowing to express the explosive power through the body.

Thanks to its advances, combined with public awareness, much of society in the modern world is moving toward this approach. Tai Chi offers numerous benefits, the ability to practice Tai Chi from the privacy of your own home is appealing to many individuals for reasons including time, privacy, and the ease of not having to travel to another location to practice your craft.

Wu or Hao is the rarest form of the five major styles of Tai Chi. This style uses extremely small foot movements, precise hand positions with arms rarely extending in full. The practice of Wu style is based on internal requirements such as calmness of the mind and spirit to gain the clear sense of all parts of the body, rather than external ones.

Even more encouraging, some recent medical facilities are incorporating alternative treatments such as this into their health care systems. Physicians are seeing the proof that the natural method can really help people since they can be delivered cheaply and less invasive. Also, once people get over the pain factor, they find that Tai Chi is an effective way of keeping common ailments like cold and fever at bay, and they do not go back.
