Choices After High School Graduation |

It is possible to sort your possibilities into some sort of order. And some options may be ones you will rule out immediately, for a variety of reasons. You could directly continue your education, though already you face options, not just of what type of school, but between specific programs as well. Or you might decide to join the work force, or continue on if you are already working. You may decide that further education is not for you at the moment, and select a job that doesn’t require additional studying. You could also, if you have the resources, take some time to travel and see the world. And finally, you could combine the above, by working or studying abroad, or by working while you attend school. There are countless reasons to settle on any of these options. If you decide to remain in school, by following a path of post-secondary education, you will be able to continue along a similar path, that uses skills and knowledge you’ve already been developing and using. The transition will likely be fairly easy, even with much larger class sizes and a possible move from home. The expectations placed upon you don’t change very much. And you will have the added benefit of graduating with a diploma or degree fairly soon, and will be able to enter the workforce while still very young. At the same time, this is likely the time when you find travel most accessible and easy. Without a lengthy school program, a developing career or a family and children, the draws on your time and resources are far lower. You will gain other skills, and have the chance to learn much about the world while traveling, though most new graduates have limited funds for travel and you may experience less than you can in a few years when you have more money. Whether you stay in school, work, or travel, you will continue to learn and grow, and you will always have the option of changing your mind and your direction as well. |
