Joining an enduro or motocross club, or any dirt bike club for that matter, is a great way to improve your riding skills, gain access to otherwise inaccessible tracks and meet like minded dirt bike fanatics! Many clubs have their own motocross track and also mini / peewee tracks for the younger riders. They often put on trail or enduro riding events that will be hosted in various locations within a certain distance from the club home. These events can be as fun or as competitive as you want them to be. Some riders choose to go for gold but you'll always find riders that will casually ride the race at a 'fun' pace.

Most clubs cater to all levels and ages making it a fantastic place to take the family if you've got a couple of youngsters that are following in your footsteps. And it's reassuring to know that MX clubs have strict safety rules and procedures in place to minimize potentially terrible accidents, as we all know this is a dangerous sport. For example, volunteer field marshals position themselves around the track and at certain points on enduro loops when races are on. If a rider goes down, the nearest field marshal will wave his flag to warn the following riders that there is an accident ahead. The injured rider will be helped off the track and attended to, and when safe to do so, the race will resume again at full pace.

Clubs will charge a yearly or seasonal subscription which can range in price depending on the size and quality of the club and its facilities.

Here are some things a good club will provide:

MX track grooming / shaping machinery to maintain the track in top condition.
Sprinkler or watering systems to keep the dust levels down during dry summers.
Excellent irrigation and drainage systems to drain the water off the track when it rains.
Bike washing facilities.
Nice club rooms with showers, a food store / cafe, and spare parts shop.
Outdoor lighting systems for night riding.
On site paramedics.

So you can see the benefits of joining a good dirt bike club. You don't have to be a pro or fast rider to join, in fact most people are neither, so don't be afraid to join or think that you aren't good enough. You will meet many people who are willing to help you out and teach you how to not only ride better, but also things like how to maintain your dirt bike and perform tricks etc. You can easily find local clubs in the telephone directory and online.
