Putting Up A Caravan Awning

Caravan awnings are ´the cause of many a family argument‚ and the worst of it is ´that you end up having ´that argument after a long journey܂ However‚ putting up ´the awning need not be a stressful experience܂ With most ´things practice makes perfect‚ and if you are more organised putting up ´the caravan awning will be easy܂ Start by making sure ´the caravan is level and ´that ´the area ´the awning will sit over is as flat as possible܂

Spray ´the channel on your caravan ´that ´the awning is fed ´through‚ using a silicone based lubricant܂ Do not be ´tempted ´to use an oil based lubricant‚ it will ruin ´the awning by leaving stains܂ Now‚ lay ´the groundsheet out in ´the position it will finally sit in܂

Lay ´the awning out in front of ´the caravan‚ if ´the ground is dirty ´then lay it out on ´top of ´the ground sheet܂ Remove all ´the zip out panels ´that you can‚ ´this will make ´the awning considerably lighter and much easier ´to handle܂ Now you can begin ´to feed ´the awning into ´the channel on ´the caravan܂ One person should feed ´the awning into ´the channel‚ whilst another person pulls ´the awning through܂ You may need something ´to stand on whilst you pull the awning ´through ´the channel܂

Fix ´the locking pads ´to ´the caravan܂ Lay out ´the frame on ´the ground in ´the same order as it will need ´to be in in order ´to hold ´the awning up܂ The first pole you should install is ´the centre pole for ´the roof܂ Next install a corner along with half a leg ´to hold it up܂ Follow ´this with ´the other corner and finally ´the other half of ´the legs܂ Zip all of ´the panels you removed back into place܂

Now you can ´tension the awning and peg it out܂ Start by pegging out ´the ´two front corners܂ If ´there is a risk of high winds‚ ´then also fit ´the storm strap܂ Finally‚ fit ´the draught skirts ´to cover ´the wheel arch and along ´the side of ´the caravan܂ If the ´tension is correct you can now fit ´the curtains and begin ´to use your awning܂
