There is just no way around it; space on an RV can be limited. While you obviously have a great deal more space than in just about any other vehicle on the road, that doesnīt mean that you have unlimited space either. Once youīve installed all the essentials in your RV and brought your trip basics like your suitcases, often you may have less room than you would like. Here are a few ideas of how you can make the most out of your space.

Donīt Take Anything You Donīt Need. Now this first point might seem to simple to include, but the fact is that this point is also quite important. The best way to maximize your space is to not take items that you donīt need. Avoiding this trap often begins well in advance of a trip. It is in your best interest to carefully think about what you are taking on your trip and what you need at least a week ahead of time. In this way, you will make the most of your space and not forget any essential items.

Make a Checklist of Necessary Items and Edit It. Well, before your travel day, itīs a good idea to take a little time and make a checklist. This list should have all the necessary items that you are planning on bringing. Once you have your checklist, itīs also smart to edit it down so that you are only bringing what you are completely sure you need. Many people wait to the last second to decide what they are packing for their trip, and the fact is it not only causes stress but it can also cost money!

A vacuum cleaner is a great example of an item that you will likely want to bring with you that can take up a lot of floor space in your RV. Finding a small, lightweight vacuum cleaner is a great example of how you can reduce weight and free up space by simply finding a smaller version of an item you need.

Preparation is Key. Making the most out of your RV space has a great deal to do with thinking ahead, planning and preparation. By carefully looking at what you need to bring then trimming back any unnecessary items, it is possible to really make the most out of your space. Likewise, finding smaller and lighter weight alternatives to items that you need to take will not just save space, but will also save you gas money. Who knew a little preparation could save so much money?
