There are several reasons to write a blog. Maybe you want to sell a product by using a blog or perhaps you want to share your knowledge and expertise about your niche with the public. Whatever the reason, blog writing is a great way to drive traffic to your site.

I will give you some prime tips to write effective blogs that will keep your readers coming back.

1. Choose topics that people will find interesting.
The internet is flooded with many blogs that have been around for quite some time. You need to make your blog stand out among those and the way to do this is to be interesting. Part of this is knowing who your audience is and what they find interesting. Do some research and donīt be afraid to post about things that are tangential to your general theme but still relevant.

2. Be smart.
Use proper writing skills. Donīt leave typographical errors in your post. Expand your vocabulary and donīt repeat words too often. This will also make your post more interesting. The smarter you seem, the more likely people will trust what you say and respect your opinion. Donīt forget to use your wit and high intelligence to win people over.

3. Keep it short.
Most people who read blogs donīt always have time to read long winded posts. Keep it to a minimum and use only key points of information. This way, you get your message across without boring your reader or losing them because they have other things to do. Two hundred and fifty words is a good average to stick with when writing blog posts.

4. Share your opinion.
believe it or not, people read blogs to read about other peopleīs opinions on various topics. Present yourself as an expert with your smart writing and many readers will subscribe to your opinion as well. This is a great incentive to write blogs as well because while you are working, you also get to share what you think with other people. You arenīt writing for a company, you are writing from you to the reader and your readers will feel more inclined to listen to you because you are one of them.

5. Use graphics.
Itīs your blog, Jazz it us with supporting visuals. Our eyes are attracted to pictures more than words and if you break up your wordy posts with pictures, graphs and other types of visuals, the more someone will keep reading what you have to say and this is the ultimate goal of a blog. Always remember to keep the visuals related to your post or topic so as not to distract the reader.

6. Use links.
Donīt be afraid to link to other sources of information on the internet to support your opinion. Sometimes this is key to earning the respect of your readers. You are not only providing your opinion but also showing the reader where they can acquire more in depth information without having to go look for it themselves. Donīt underestimate the value of this service.

7. Donīt forget the key words.
You want to direct people to your blog and you want to provide useful information to your readers. However, you still want them to come to your blog for one purpose and that is to sell them something, be it a product or you opinion. Using key words will get traffic to your blog as well as keep your posts focused. Donīt flood your posts with key words though, this can be very unattractive to the reader. You need to find the right balance for your audience.

8. Use snappy headlines.
Each time you post, you have the opportunity to put in a title or headline for the post. Use this well. Make it something short and to the point but also interesting and witty to entice the reader to go onto the actual post.
